Prayer Life Challenge

Dear Church Family,

Greetings in Jesus' name!

I trust all is well and you are enjoying the righteousness, peace and joy of the Holy Ghost that characterizes the Kingdom of God.

I want to encourage you in your prayer life. E.M. Bounds wrote, "Prayer succeeds when all else fails." Have you ever realized that prayer is the last place you went instead of the first place? It is innate in fallen man to lean too heavily on our own abilities and wisdom.

Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

Many efforts fail or fall short when we avail ourselves of prayer because we simply trust our effort more than we do our prayer. For the people of God prayer is an often under-utilized resource. Prayer is the great possibility not because of some prayer "formula," not because of vain repetition, and not because of our loud, "Oh God." Prayer is the great possibility because of our Great God with whom nothing is impossible. Elijah prayed it would not rain for three years and it didn't, and then he prayed it would rain and it did. Everything, even nature, is subject to the God to whom we pray. Prayer's possibility is infinite, not because of some power inherent in prayer but because of the omnipotence of God. Much like an extension cord which has little use unless connected to a power source, Christians have little use unless connected to the Power Source, and what connects us is prayer. Too little is accomplished by the church because too little time, focus and effort is put into prayer.

James 5:16 "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." There is great power in prayer, as we are praying!

I am believing for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Ghost at Tree of Life. I am believing God for the salvation of souls and a powerful 2017. Here is my challenge to you. Come to pre-service prayer and pray with me for these things. Let's renew our commitment to pray together at the altar of God. Things happen when God's people pray and I know we all want to see things happen. So please make it a point to be at prayer and lets pray and believe God together for a great move of the Holy Spirit!

I'll see you at the altar,

Pastor
