Dear Church Family,

Greetings in Jesus’ name!

What a powerful week we had earlier this month, honoring and serving veterans. From our Salute to Valor Ceremony, to Military Family Night, and other events that I had the privilege of attending in between, it was a powerful week.

Salute to Valor was wonderful and I received many compliments on how well it went. During Military Family Night, we served and ministered to two hundred people, including active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. As usual, you proved why the Tree of Life ministry of helps team is regarded as one of the finest in the nation. I was blessed to watch you serve, minister to, and pray for people.

We were so busy that week that I forgot about our twenty-fourth anniversary as a church (November 11th) - until one of my ministry friends called to wish me a "happy anniversary". It is hard to believe that twenty-four years ago, I was convinced that every message I preached would be a home run, and when I hit it, everyone would cheer. The reality is that the home runs come fewer than the "whiffs", and some people would not cheer whether it was a home run or a whiff. There have been many battles, many tears, and many betrayals over the years - but I love the ministry and God's people, and I am absolutely confident that I have the privilege of pastoring the finest family of Christ followers anywhere. I am honored and grateful to be your Pastor.

It's my favorite time of year. Thanksgiving is this week and Christmas is right around the corner. I want to encourage you to slow down and take time to enjoy the Lord Jesus and the Spirit of this great season, which celebrates what we are truly thankful for and the born-again life that resulted from His wonderful birth. Fight to avoid the commercialization and the things that may distract you from the real meaning of the season.

I call you blessed,
