Training Sessions

When I was ten, I began practicing Judo and kept at it until I was eighteen. I loved everything about it; but as I got older, I developed other interests and stopped participating. Every class session followed the same schedule, with the exception of the techniques we would practice. After warming up and stretching, we would practice a particular throw, sweep, or hold the entire practice.

Dear Church Family,

Greetings in Jesus’ name!

On the night I was saved someone told me that in a couple of weeks everything would begin to fall into place. I am very confident they were sincere and, in all fairness, I do not really remember the context they spoke in. I have heard many promises like that one given to people in hopes of prompting them to come to salvation in Christ. While the motive may be “good”, it certainly is not the reality.

Race Conditioning

Dear Church Family,

Greeting in Jesus name!

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

The Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint. In a marathon, it does not really matter how you start; what is important is how you finish. Paul the Apostle speaks of disciplining his body by keeping it under subjection. Much like an athlete makes a commitment to training and watching what they eat, we must commit to spiritual disciplines to make it to the end of this Christian race.

Keys for a Victorious Life

At the Altars of God

Dear Church Family,

Greetings in Jesus’ name!

I trust you are enjoying your summer and it is my prayer that you find yourself able to relax and be refreshed.

The altar of the Lord has always been a powerful place of divine communion for God’s people. In Genesis 8:20, the first thing Noah did when the waters had receded and he was able to step foot on dry land was build an altar. Elijah built an altar and fire from heaven consumed the sacrifice he had put on it in his confrontation with the prophets of Baal. I could go on, but I trust you get the point.
